Survivor

The clock ticks
so slowly - nothing
can ever change.

The monitor flicks
memories that will last
longer than its sell by date.

This command capsule,
is too large for one person:
emptiness screams silently.

An in-flight diary lays open
on a date over a year old
nothing as been entered since.

Food capsules reproduce
themselves on a programme
designed for eternity.

Stay pure drinks containing
hallucinatory enhancements
help pass the days.

There is nothing
to combat the sleepless nights
and the loneliness of space.

He thinks of all those
that perished and wonders
if he is the only survivor.
