Ice Colors

Wet clumps of bark on older trees sag.
As ice melts from branches, the entire creaky
forest seems to give a damp sigh of relief.
Frozen snow on the ground
glistens in the sunlight, like a
memory or hope of spring.

Prisms in the limbs are yellow, red,
blue, green, silver and gold.
They have the exact same colors as
foil wrappers from expensive candy,
or sparkling planets in deep space.
