Strong Coffee on My Breath
Strong coffee on my breath, I seem to have made peace with the enemy, Artillery put down, arteries open up. There is a science to reconciliation, And my mind can muster yet another effort: One more sugar to dissolve, I stir into the brown horizon, And in our minds an old familiar taste might manifest. I hasten not to hold this in high regard, As our emotions might not reciprocate And we might sit in silence in each other's company at this rustic cafe. Nonetheless … there is strong coffee on my lips; I seem to have made peace with you, my love.
