We Are the Old Men Now

The road to our home
is overgrown with grass.
Fog blurs the signposts
& cold congeals our blood.
Gone are the sprints
thru sun-drenched meadows.
Fall is past & winter waiting.
The shrill of jays
is a dim requiem.
We are the old men now.
